Troy's 270 Gallon plus Fishroom

looks very nice. man, if that was me my wife would have me sleeping in the car.cant wait to see it up and running

Seems I saw this design somewhere else?

 Cant imagine where! I love having the two storage tanks. The only thing I dont like is having the drains on the side....you never get everything out unless you tip the tank on its side.

Yeah. I put them in as low as I thought I could. I think I'll slip a 45 on to the bulkhead and a six to ten inch pipe so that it's sucking up from the bottom.

Don't worry, for every dollar I spend she is spending two on our yard. The larger concern is whether I get livestock into the tank before the bank closes my accounts.

Made a little progress yesterday... got the sump in place and began the plumbing. Slow going though.... the drop from the tank into the sump is pretty tight. Luckily my beautiful mermaid (pic below) showed up and made the suggestion to boil the spa flex and I could form it into whatever path I needed easily and it worked great!

looking good!!!! I tried so hard to get my wife in the tank but she wasnt having it. She's trying to put a lock on the outside of the fish room door. Do you think she is trying to tell me something?

I'm pretty lucky, Karen is as excited as I am and she is helping whenever she can. She got in the tank and put in all the bulkheads for me so I took this pic then. I'm crappy at aquascaping so she will be totally in charge of that effort. She used to be a Scuba instructor and is really excited about selecting the livestock and corals...

Well, didn't get all the plumbing done today but I made major progress. Got the drains and return lines in for the DT as well as completing the manifold for the return lines. I also got some of the frag tank plumbing done. Unfortunately I shorted myself 1 gate vale and 1 union... and the locline for the frag tank. Those are all on the way now..

Here is a picture... I'll post more once everything is plumbed..

Thats a sweet manifold! Where does it all lead to? Stationary returns? Sea Swirls?

Where are you going to place all your probes for your apex? Frag tank? Main sump?

There are two 3/4" returns back to the DT and one to the frag tank. I put in three spare lines. One will feed a calcium reactor later. I'll plumb one to the drain for water changes. I probably went overboard on the manifold but I wanted future flexibility without re plumbing.

Makes sense. Good job!

Have to plan ahead on a large system like yours...plus you have a sweet fish room to expand into over time.
