True Lemon Peel Angelfish Question

What can I feel my True Lemon Peel Angelfish to ensure he is getting the proper nutrition. I am noticing he is eating a lot of nori at the moment and eating the macro algae but I want to make sure I keep his diet healthy. Are there pellets or other things I should be feeding him and how much?
 
Spectrum has great pellets, feed mysis and some frozen angel food (made with sponges)
 
+1 above, also any seafood from the grocery store: raw shrimp, scallops, clams, etc
Soak your food in selcon and vitachem a couple of times a week.
 
I am just about ready to use HIM as food. Ugh, not at all reef safe, not even with caution. Just not reef safe. He is picking on everything in the tank :fun5:
 
Oh boy, I wouldn't have considered a Lemon Peel at all reef safe, not even 'with caution'. I only had one once and had a similar experience as yours. FOWLR.
 
I am sorry for the unfortunate situation Lemonpeels are notoriously the least likely to be at all reef safe sucks because they are beautiful.
 
You're going to have to get him out. Dwarf angels are a major pain to catch - at least I never seem to be able to.
 
nope, we tried. Can't get him out. He was a birthday present to my husband from his son. I asked my husband yesterday if he wanted an all fish tank or a coral and fish tank and so then he went over and tried to get him but it was impossible.
 
A trap and some patience, and you will get him out. Trust me, there isn't a single fish I haven't been able to capture with my trap.

Good advice. I too have used traps on many fish, and in the past I've experienced that dwarf angels are smart about it. Only feed inside the trap and be patient!! You can also try catching him at night or early in the morning before the lights come on. Fish are often groggy and disoriented at that time. I had a flame angel turn on my reef, took a week to get him out. He was getting all the food he wanted by eating corals, so my trap failed. I got impatient and pulled out my rock to catch him. If you manage to net him be very careful that his gill spines don't get caught in the net, this can injure the fish. Good luck!
 
BTW tonight I just caught two fish from my tank with my trap. So..... easy.
 
These traps do work. Caught an aggressive Hippo recently by putting a clip with nori into a DIY trap and the big knucklhead just blundered right in ....
 
Just caught him today! Yay. We thought for a while that he was going to stay in our tank and then he started nipping at EVERYTHING. I knew he was going to be trouble when I saw him but he was a gift soooo....Anyway...made a DIY trap from a 1.6 liter size spring water bottle. The bottle already had an inverted bottom so we just cut the hole in the bottom and cut the bottom off for fish removal, put the bottom back as you would any inverted bottle and put it in the tank for a night. This morning put some food in and he was caught in one minute. Saved me $50 making it myself. Only cost me $1.69. He is safe and not stressed and going back to the LFS today. YAY! Thanks for all the help everyone! :)

True Lemon Peel Angel IS a beautiful fish only (as I learned the hard way, lol)tank addition. The colors on this fish are outstanding. I am slowly learning that all the really gorgeous fish are not reef safe :fish1:
