True or False?

Can some of the experts tell by my photos?

The colors on these are not enhanced and are much brighter/vibrant than some of the false ones I've seen at the LFS, but I'm no expert.

You guys weren't kidding when you said it's hard to photograph a clown. Maybe I'll try my luck with the D90 later instead of the iphone.

I've tried to use the self-help and these have defined black, much thicker than the ones I could compare to. Also, the middle stripe resembles some VS ''thongs', but could be borderline 'granny panties' as someone mentioned for identification.

Thanks for your help.

Jason

False.
Those are catergorized as fancy ocellaris to some. They have also flooded the market lately in MI and Ohio

There is no such thing as a False Percula, it is an Ocellaris Clownfish. Completely different species. That being said that looks like a plain Jane Amphiprion ocellaris.

A. ocellaris are commonly referred to as false percs. And has been stated Jason, your two are A. ocellaris.

Although technically not correct, False percula is also another name for ocellaris, so same they are the same species. It should be made a point to correctly call ocellaris by that name rather then false percula.

Thank you. I don't care either way, just figured I should make sure I'm telling others the correct information.

False percula = A.Ocellaris as stated and known to many
True percula = A.Percula as stated and known to many

Is your yellow lab a false golden retriever? They are different dogs and these are different fish and should be known by their correct species names. We might as well start calling Saddlebacks false Latz too while we're at it.
