True Perc addition...

Just wondering what the best way would be to add a small true perc into a tank that has an established large (female im assuming) true perc already in the tank. trying to get them paired up over time as well. just wondering if I should try to remove the existing and add them simultaneously, or should I QT the new perc in the tank for an extended period to allow the established perc time to "prepare".

thanks for any insight...

Oh, I know I cant leave it alone....I am talking about having him inside the tank with the female, or removing the existing female and adding them at the same time...like over about a 8-10 hr period.

either way it should be ok, what ever makes you feel more comfortable when i added my new one i just acclimated and in he went they're doing good now

I have a 58gallon tank and have had a single Perc for two years. Last week I added a 6month old Onyx Perc and after one night seperated by a breeder net I released him to the tank. He was not harassed by my other fish, and he ate.

One week later (yesterday), he is nowhere to be found. I don't know if he was beat up and died, or I suppose there's a small chance he's hiding??

I'm going to follow your thread for advice, as I don't think my strategy worked.
