True Percs with Snowflakes?

Hi all. So Ive had a pair of true percs for a number of years now and I recently came across a pair of snowflakes. The percs are a lot bigger, maybe 2.5 in. and the flakes are about 1.5 inches. I introduced the snowflakes yesterday and initially had a bit of aggression from both sides, but obviously more so with the percs. I decided to put the male perc (smaller) on timeout in the fuge to see if the aggression would decrease. There is no aggression anymore from the female perc and everyone seems to be getting along. Does anyone have any experience in this? If I re-introduce the male perc, would the aggression return?

Most of the time you should only have one set of clown in your tank because they are territorial, so don't be surprised if you put him back in there will be fighting again.

As stated you may only be able to have one pair. That one pair claims the entire tank. The only reason there is less aggression now is likely because the percent is outnumbered. I'd pick one pair and get rid of the other.

In my limited experience I've found a 180g tank is kind of the tipping point for 1 or 2 pairs of clowns. Yours are NOT the more aggressive types (like a tomato) and may work out. But it may take some time as well. It took a week for my tangs to settle down and make nice. Don't get too concerned over some attacks, but if anybody is getting injured (more than a nipped fin) then get them appart.
Good luck.

My tank has two islands, and one of the isands where I have my nems. One of the snowflakes is now hanging out with the perc and the other snowflake is staying on the far end of the tank. I dont know why its there, kind of like a loner.

While it may work short term, once a pair decides to start breeding they will kill off any other clowns in the tank.

Take it from me, it won't work. I had a mated pair (True Black Onyx Perc Female with Black and White Occelaris male) and added them to a pair of Snowflake Occy's.

In the end, the female True Onyx Black Perc paired up with the smaller snowflake male. They made the female snowflake jump out of the tank and bullied the female black and white until almost death.

The female black and white is now in a tank of her own with a new small male black and white. They get along fantastic.

Trust me, they will kill a pair of something.

I wouldn't do it, of they're good together now then great but when one wants to spawn they will destroy the other pair... My vote goes to keeping the snowflakes!
