the first true personifer have landed in south africa last friday
This is the smallest one that the collector has ever collected

Yurvid - my true personifier is just over 5" and has a thick black stripe on it's tail.

There was a 3.5" that had the same.
 
it will be interesting to have a look when it will hapen
I can see it starting on the tail
I dit not buy this fish thy get to big i only have a 190g tank
I am waiting for a conspic

How "SURE"

are you its a true personifer? I had some meredithi that had regular black splashes in the tail that they just grew out of. And as Campbell said, there are smaller ones showing band. Im not saying that because it doesnt have it, its not a true, Im just saying, whoever buys it, should be SURE is a true W Aussie personifer before paying the premium.
 
This is very interesting, the closer I look I sort of see the black stripe developing on the tail.

Interesting how this one doesn't have it yet, and the one Chris saw at 3.5" already had it fully developed.

Yurvid - please post pictures and updates if you can, I realize it's not your fish though, so could be difficult!
 
that photo was also taken after a 34 hour flight from australia
I am going there tomorrow to go and get my box of fish that my collector friend have send me form mauritius for my bday
 
Just because there is no band does not mean it is not a True Personifer Angel. Additionally, from the true Personifer Angels that I have seen there is no blotchiness in the tail. Color development also depends on the particular fish and it's age overall and not specifically size.

Thanks for the pic the fish looks like it will be a real brute when it gets older.
 
yuri, you wrote earlier that this fish was 8 inches but looks like its around 4" from the picture. how big was it when u got it and now? did it ever get the black stripe in the tail? I got one thats about 3.5" without the stripe and am hoping it sets in soon.

Yurivd said the stripe would develop by the time it was 8 inches, not that it was 8 inches (it is much smaller). He also said this fish wasn't his. Good luck with your personifer, though. Judging from the responses to this thread it seems to depend on the fish.
 
Sorry i misread it. I guess theres no general size that the stripe appears. Ive read as soon as 3" and up to 8".
 
if I remember correct this fish was about 12cm so just under 5"
Sum thing was not good with the tank and the fish died at the shop

But the guy from australia told us it is a easy fish to get we just have to let him know how much we want
