I bought this about a month ago, and I think it's doing great! I paid 50 bucks. It's kink of hard to tell, but the thing has widely seperated polyps. This is my first trumpet and I'm lovin it.

What do you think?

Looks great! I like to see the polyp tissue extending down the stems that far. Sign of a healthy trumpet.

How did it look when you bought it? Most of the ones I see for sale have a lot of tissue recession.

looks good i bought a 2 headed one about 3 months ago and it was like $20. $50 for one with so many heads is a steal IMO.

Yeah, I live fairly close to That Fish Place, so I stop in often. Once a quarter they've been sending out coupons to people on their mailing lists for $5 of a purchase over $40, or 20% off you entire fish and invertabrate purchase. Hence the fifty dollar price tag. It looked really good from day one. The entire skeleton is covered in red plating coraline. Anyone who sees my tank for the first time always comments on the trumpet first. I have an elegance, clams, brains, etc. but this trumpet had to be my best specimen. I have them under direct 20K mh lights and they seem to be fine. Is this normal for these?

Is that trumpet truly a rose color up close? I'm not sure if its my eyes or the lighting - I've always just seen them in the light green\blue colors.. Thanks for the pic they are very beautiful.

I got 2 heads for $10 at my LFS but only in the last month or two so i am hoping it will take off like yours has :)

mine started splitting like crazy once i upgraded lights to MH. went from 2 heads to what will soon be nine heads in like a month.

Yes they are that color all the time. In the evening there feeding tentacles extend about a quarter inch. They are constantly splitting. Awesome coral indeed.:bum:
