Trying out the new macro lens

Desperately wanting a macro lens for my Canon EOS20D, but not able to spend the approximately $500, I found the deal of the year on Craigslist, a mint condition Canon Telephoto EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Autofocus Lens and Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II Autofocus Lens for $100 total.

Just started to test the lens out and here are some of the shots:

that's funny, i though that too, but it was a college kid who decided to get out of photography and sold off his camera and other lenses, but forgot he had the other 2...at least that's what he told me :fun4:

he even threw in an old camera bag that he had

i did, but these were literally the first few shots at using the lens.

The tank pics are at night with only the moon lights on using a flash, so i expected those ones to not be perfect...

I understand these are your first few shots. I just want to point you in the right direction.
I know you can get better pictures of flower than the one you posted above with a little more practice and using the right technique.

I know, thanks...I definitely appreciate any pointers...

shooting macro is definitely a different challenge...
