I was looking at the Marineland Reef Capable LED (part #33002) and Amazon was nice enough to point me to the updated model, the Reef LED strip light (part #90620).
The new light claims to be "20% brighter" (brighter than what?). The PAR and LED count for the new light can be found here:
http://www.marineland.com/LED-Lighting.aspx
I think the LED counts and lumen values are wrong for the Reef LED strip light (maybe copied from the Advanced LED table above it?), but the PAR data is what I'm most interested in:
Size 1 Watt White LEDs 1 Watt Blue LEDs PAR/LUX at 12" PAR/LUX at 24" Lumens
18" "“ 24" 6 3 216/12526 134/8492 660
24" "“ 36" 8 4 207/11718 142/7882 880
36" "“ 48" 16 6 199/12089 118/7569 1760
48" "“ 60" 24 8 240/12917 151/9195 2640
Data for the old Reef Capable LED is here (click on "Product Manuals and Instructions):
http://www.marineland.com/Products/...system/reef-led-aquarium-lighting-system.aspx
Size 1 Watt White LEDs 1 Watt Blue LEDs Par/LUX at 12" PAR/LUX at 24" Lumens
18"-24" 18 3 130/12700 64/5870 1305
24"-36" 23 4 130/12700 64/5870 1670
36"-48" 36 6 130/12700 64/5870 2610
48"-60" 46 8 130/12700 64/5870 3340
It looks like PAR has increased dramatically in the new version. Does anyone have this new version and can they confirm these numbers?
Also, what does "20% brighter" mean when those PAR values look to be almost 100% higher? I'm assuming that they are talking about the lumen output (which is wrong in the table).
Anyway, it looks like a promising light if those PAR numbers are true.
