TTM and Tangs

Would it be best to only do 1 tang in a 5 gallon set of buckets for TTM? I feel like 2 might be pushing it, even with juvy tangs.

I'm looking at two different tangs in the future. A yellow and likely a squaretail bristletooth.

I have a 20 gallon QT that once they exit TTM, I'll put them in together. I've got some eggcrate I plan to split the QT in half, lengthwise so they can get used to each other after TTM, but still have the length to swim.

Assuming they're both juvies, is this a solid plan? Or will two tangs in a 20 also be too much?

Which tangs? Always safest to do them separately because there is a risk you could lose one. Depending on the aggressiveness of each they could ignore eacg other or one will try to establish territory. If the less aggressive stays out of the way and not fight back, it could be ok, but... What's your risk tolerance?

I wouldn't do more than 1 tang in a 5 gallon for TTM. Ammonia and oxygen can both become a problem quicker than you might think.
The 20 gallon, especially with an eggcrate divider, should be fine for both.

I do like TTM. Another option would be to use copper in the 20 gallon, and not have to go through the 5 gallon bucket thing, since you are dealing with tangs.

I do not like to use copper, too stressful on the fish liver, it may have long term effects. I don't think there is enough research to rule out long term effects and health.

Plus copper is known to suppress the immune responses in fish which could open the door for things much worse than Cryptocaryon, especially if the fish is stressed out on top of that.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll plan on 1 at a time in TTM.

I'm not a fan of copper up front as 1. I've never used it. and 2. Not a big fan of medication unless there are already symptoms.
