I am thinking about getting a small tube anemone but was wondering if they require high intense lighting as do other anemones. And has anyone got a clown to host them?
They're non-photosynthetic. They like lower lightning, and need to be fed on a daily basis. I don't specifically spot feed them, but I have a small tank, so when I feed the tank, the tube anemone eats too. Feed them smaller foods, like cyclopeeze or mysis shrimp. And no, they won't host clownfish.
it's possible, just like it's possible for any anemone.
i love the looks of the tube anemones, but i don't want to take the chance of loosing any of my fish.
i had a mini maxi that ate three of my gobies before i figured out what was going on.
From all I've read regarding risk of tube anemones eating fish, the risk is basically nil. True anemones seem to be a significantly greater risk for eating any of your fish.
My tube anemone is in a tank with three barnacle blennies as well as two ocellaris clowns.....hasn't eaten anything, and they've all been together for at least 8 months. Any food bigger than mysis shrimp causes the anemone to retreat back into it's tube. And all of my fish seem to respect the anemone and stay away from any stray tentacles. I'd say the chances of a tube anemone eating most fish, as long as the fish are healthy, is pretty slim.
