Tube Anemone - Purchased & Not coming out

Hey,

Information on the Tube Anemone has been scarce so i figure i might get help creating a new post.

I purchased a nice looking tube anemone, about the size of a golf ball when fully open (at the LFS).... It was mislabelled as a 'tube worm' and they were selling it for 15 bucks.

I purchased it and noticed that it had a 'soft' tube.... typically most pictures i found now have them in a hard tube, anything to worry about?

ANYWAY, I temp acclimated it in the tank for 30 minutes then drip acclimated it for about 45 minutes (water more then doubled in the bag).

I then burried it in the sand (very gentley, actually used a turkey baster to cover it). So far it has not come out at all. Ive checked all times of the day and the night. Its been about 4-5 days now...

a) Does it take them a while to 'warm up' to the new tank, is this normal?
b) Could it have died already?
c) Did i somehow just get the "tube" and no anemone from the fish store?

*EDIT, forgot the stats..

TEMP is typically at 82-84
Salinity 1.025
ALK is 8-9 drops
PH is 8.1
AM, NI, and NA are all at 0

If it matters, my pom pom crab has had healthy anemones for months now... No losses

I have two tube anemones in my 29 gallon reef tank. Both tubes are soft... formed by excretions from the anemone. They do occasionally retract into their tubes for a couple of days at a time, but usually extend fully at night. Once, my purple tube anemone spent days turning itself around, then popping out from a different part of its tube.

The best article I found for Tube anemones was in Advanced Aquarist a few years ago... just do an internet search.

Your temp seems a bit high... most reef tanks run around 77 degrees. Maybe the anemone was kept at a lower temp in the store and is taking a long time to fully acclimate.

just came home and the "circular tube head" had come off.. not sure if something was picking at it...

Not sure if i should just leave it, or if there is a way to see if its still alive in there

It was a tube anemone, Had the long tentacles and a very neon green area of tentacles inside the tube next to the mouth.. unless there really is a tube worm that has this look
