Tube anenome shedding stalk skin?

Added a purple tube anenome to my tank this Sunday, he never settled down by himself so on Monday I placed 2 rocks on his side to hold him in place, he looked to attach to the piece of rock below him

Today on Wednesday shortly after my lights came on he ejected from his stack that stayed attached to the rock, kinda like a snake shedding skin

I removed the left over which was still stuck to the rock

This is a 12g nanotank, I change 2g of water once a week

Should I try to wedge him in rocks if he ends up floating around for a day? Should I try to wedge him with rocks in the sandbed rather than on a rock?

Should I be concerned?

Well he seems to have used this skin to wrap himself around another rock, like an anchor, pretty interesting,

Unfortunately looks like a slimy cowbweb

I stick the base of mine in a 3 inch sand area. you do know they don't host clowns don't you? i only ask because of your clown

If you gently lay it on the sand with the pointy end where you would like the head to end up the pointy end digs in the sand until just the head is left. Do not wedge it anywhere. It will go where it wants and build a new tube. They use up energy moving and building the tube so it is best not to move it if it is already settled. I have seen some on the rocks but usually with the base in the sand underneath.
