Does anyone like the idea of being a club? Make your vote. I do not like the idea. I think the idea of having casual get togethers/ auctions works really well!
I've been in clubs (not fish clubs) and the requirements really start to drag. It turns something that should be enjoyable, whether it's riding motorcycles or keeping tanks, a chore with obligations.
Doesn't the club collect all moneys involved in frag auctions? And those frags are sold for way more than we auction them off for at our gatherings/auctions.
Funny, I actually like things the way they are, but I would consider us a very informal club. I do wish we had more frequent get togethers, only because it's so hard for me to make them, so if I miss one, it's several months before another comes along. I haven't been able to make an event since that first frag auction at Zach's shop!
How often are the meetings?
How would we raise money for future meetings/BBQ?
How many hobbiest are involved in the Tucson area?
Would there be enough of us to do group/club buys like some of the larger groups?
If everyone is comfortable with the way its working, great. I am in favor of a non-formal club, As long as everyone contributes and helps out, because I don't think it's fair to those people who do all the planning/organizing. my .02...
I'm for a club- small dues, very casual. Of course, the meetings would always happen when I' gigging... But I would try to come and pick everyone's brain.
