Ok i need an answer asap if possible. I dont know how to tell what part is defective with my wave box. when i plug it in the driver (7240.27) warms up but the controller itself doesnt light up. Does that mean the controller is bad or the driver. Is there a way to tell. I have the controller torn apart i should get some kind of voltage i would assume on the wires from the driver. Correct? any ideas would be great. I need to get this thing working my tank has suffered for a month without it and im trying to get everything healthy again. thanks for any info

It is hard to tell with certainty, however, if the pump runs without a controller connected, it is likely the controller. If it does not, and the driver does not get very hot, it is likely a dead motor or damaged power supply.

Ok the magnet get warm and the driver gets warm. Is there a way to hook the pump up directly to the driver? How can I test the pump.

The pump is connected to the driver (aluminum box), this is required to run the pump. If the pump does not work without the controller, there is likely very little that can be done besides upgrading to a 6215 pump, the drivers and motors are no longer made and while we have good used drivers, I have no working motors. This style of pump ceased production in 2007 and the major electrical parts are no longer available.

The kit on this link is a 6215.200 pump, new 6105.240 power supply and new foam pan to retrofit the new pump in an older wavebox. The other option is to send in what you have and if it can be fixed with a used driver or a transformer or drive unit (prop assembly) that we have, however, a not scalding hot driver and no power to the controller tends to indicate a dead motor, if the driver is bad it quickly gets very hot at the aluminum angle bracket which supports a heat sink inside the driver.

Thanks for te help. The pump does not work when plugged into the driver(silver box). The controller doesn't light up at all when plugged into the box. Does that mean the magnet looking thing is bad the driver or the pump?

If you have a voltmeter you could check the transformer, (hockey puck), you should measure 24V AC if you test an outer pin and a center pin, both combos (both outer pins and the center) should read 24V AC, it has two secondary outputs with a common neutral.

Testing the driver and motor requires a watt meter or appliance analyzer and is not so easy.
