Tuning a small skimmer

Roger,

I purchased a 210/2 a couple of years ago and I'm not certain I've ever really adjusted it just correctly. After searching this forum for a while I see there are issues that might be affecting me. (I see mention of US type installation kits, use of the osmomat, etc) I feel I might be out of whack somewhere because I get inconsistant results (which could be due to other factors too). By inconsistent I mean fairly inconsistency in foam formation.

The skimmer is in a sump with a fairly contant level (At least unless I lose power and water backs from the main tank). The sump has a lip on the edge to accomodate a lid or such and I've always had the skimmer attached on the thin ledge. In this fashion, the skimmer is not completely square to the water level, as the bottom of the unit tilts until it hits the glass. Could this be a problem?

55 gal tank with a 20 gal sump (total water probably 60 gal)
The water level is about midway along the main housing.

Is any other "tuning" just adjusting the air regulation screw?

I'm in Austin and maybe I'll try and stop by to try and talk with you.

Thank you in advance for any advice you might have.

Eric

It would likely perform better if it was level. Come see me at AquaTek on Saturday and I will take a look at the skimmer. I leave for Germany Monday and will be gone for 3 weeks so this weekend will be the last one I am working for a while.
