Tuning DC Pump on Skimmer

I have a Waveline 6000 DC Pump, should it be on highest setting as long as the skimmer doesn't overflow? I have seen videos where people only have them on 1/2 way with higher bio load than myself

bump, and to correct my above question. Should I have the skimmer pump speed be maxed out and adjust foam head height by using the water valve, or is it better opening valve all the way and adjusting foam head height by adjusting pump speed? I cant tell what way it skims better, I've tried both ways.

Yep... crank it all the way and then adjust the foam head via the valve..
I'm not really sure why they put "variable speed" pumps on skimmers other than to make people just pay more...
