Hi,

I currently have a 210/2 on a 40Gal tank....

I have had it running for about 2 months and am having problem with the skimmate production.

If I turn the air control fully 3 times then it bubles about an inch from the bottom and takes forever to produce skimmate about 2 weeks to get to the 100 mark.

If I tun the air controll fully 2 times then it bubles up to near the top but then just fills the cup with clear water in a few hours...

I have very low stock, one chromis and 2 black perks 6, 2 inch frags and lots of clerpra.

Is there somthing I am doing wrong?
Any ideas what level should the bubbles rise to in the column?

Also what sould be the correct water lever for this unit, the instructions seem to have pictures for the bigger model.

Thanks.

is this ok?

If I turn the air controll now 3 turns I just seem to get clear water and cup fills up in about an hour.

Thanks

The second photo seems about right, give it time to run in. Due to a preferential removal of cellulose Tunze skimmers yield a lighter skimmate. They need a couple weeks to break in be patient.

Hi Roger,

thanks for the reply.

picture 2 is the best I have seen from the skimmer in a while, took me some time messing around with the water level

You say
They need a couple weeks to break in be patient

But I have had the skimmer running for about two months now, is this not long enough?

Do you also know what the correct water level should be for this skimmer, I will be moving it to my sump some time next week and the instructions seem to be for the larger model 230, 240, etc

Also any ideas on how long it will take to fill the cup, is about 4 days to reach the 100ml mark ok or should it be quicker?

Thanks again.

Imran

The 210/2 is very finicky and it hasn't been made for couple years, if the water level wasn't exact the performance was very poor. When I get back to Austin I will see if I can't find my old one and the manual and get you some more info. Skimmate volume varies so much by inhabitants and age and just dozens of factors that I can't give you a number, phosphate and nitrate readings as well as skimmate consistancy can give you the best indication.

Thanks for the update Roger.

It would be nice to get some docs that show the correct water level for the 210/2

Thanks again

Imran

If you email me I can send you a manual.

One thing that I thought of is that if it is a 210/2 you have a small pump that is made in Italy, if it is an older 210 the pump is an AquaBee. The 210/2 pump had an additional pump flow adjustment that needs to be set. The water level should be just to the level of the base of the clear tube.
