Tunze 3155 Problems

SD-Cube

Morning everyone, I have a Tunze 3155 system that is having a connection issue from the power cord to the controller. Any time it is unplugged (water changes), it has a difficult time reconnecting. The connection most of the time seems to short, starting and stopping (causing the water to be turned off and on).
What can be done about this? My system is a little over a year old and is on of the greatest purchases ever, but I have to get this fixed.
Thanks
Greg

The most common cause of this is that the DC output tip of the power supply sat in some water and has corroded, check it, if the inside of the barrel is greenish or brown, this is your likely culprit, it should be bright nickel plated. It may be possible to get a better contact with some emery cloth or fine sand paper and contact cleaner, otherwise, replacing the power supply will usually be the best course.

That's exactly what happened to mine when I set it up. Corrosion.

Funny because it was sold to me as new in box.:hmm2:

Inside the contact tip is also clean and shiny? This corrosion typically occurs on the inside surface or hole in the tip.

If so, I would then open the controller and you will see the power connection, be sure it is also clean and shiny and you will see a spring on one side that contacts the negative and the shaft that contacts the positive center. Very gently bend these towards each other to get a tighter contact.
