Tunze 3162 media

I am setting up the reefpack 250. Can anyone tell me what am I suppose to put inside the filter 3162 chamber? Should I put any media to culture denitrifying bacteria? Or just leave that with the floss come with the pack?

Keep in mind that floss is a many months supply, use about a tenth of it fluffed up. You can use really any coarser media you would like, the important thing is that it is coarse and not tightly packed or the filter pump will produce bubbles.

Roger, I see there is zeolite available in the site. Does that mean I can put a bag of zeolite in that chamber? However, normal zeolite will require an reactor tho. Do you know anyone uses that in the filter?

Zeolite works best in a reactor, but with maintenance it could work in the filter and it depends on expectations. Ideally it is shaked out periodically to remove dead bacteria and detritus, you could do that manually every couple days, it would work left alone but be far less effective as pores would clog overtime.
