TUNZE 3174/2 reactor

Any ideas what is the best level in sump for this to work well?

I have C02 at 2 bubbles per second, I do not have much sps frags but calcium seem to stay around 250ppm and adding kalk seems to keep it around 400ppm.

It is a 45Gal tank with 10Gal sump.

I have about 6 small 1inch acro frags

Anyone have some ideas on tuning this unit or is it time to upgrade?

Unfortunately i can't help you here, the 3174/2 was a failure. It didn't work. This wasnt done on purpose but we had a new product tester who was afraid to offend the engineers and gave the product a good review it shouldn't have gotten. I would expect you should be able to get a good discount if you pursue it, the new unit works very well.

looks like I need to upgarde to the newer unit then.

Can this unit be converted or is it cheaper to by a newer one?

btw I am based in the UK.

It is difficult to convert even though it looks like it would be simple. The internal plumbing is not really possible to do once it is assembled.

If you bought it new you might talk to an agent or someone at Tunze. It is something we really regret and generally will make an arrangement for a substantial discount.
