Roger,
My 5100 controller, the box that the stream is connected directly to, stated making the warning sound and I noticed one corner of the box getting hot. Any ideas? The stream was off for about 15 hours today because I was cleaning out my tank.

I'm going to send it in with the transformer. I broke the impeller shaft trying to get it out so I'll need to purchase a new one.

Roger, I'm having the same problem with two of mine also. My driver housing is getting real hot on the back wear the screws go into the cooling system. One of the driver housingsis for my wave box the other my 6200. My transformers are also alot hotter then m others. What should i do?

Dave,

Do your pumps still work? Running hotter is often an indication that the pumps are dirty and the friction is higher, increasing the watt draw. I would check the prop assembly and especially focus on the upper bearing, there is a stickied thread at the top of this forum dealing with this issue. The 6200 and 6212 drivers and transformer will run warmer than smaller streams, they use more power. The drivers generally run about 120F, the transformers are about the same in normal operation for a 6200, on a 6000 or 6100 they are about 10-15 degrees cooler.

Roger, No they are not running and one started smoking last night after i emailed you. They are only three weeks runningin my tank.

Both pumps? Send them in and as long as the cause is not the drivers getting wet or the L bracket at the top being removed they would be covered under warranty.

Turnaround is generally within 24hrs, however if you know the drivers got wet or the L bracket was removed it would be faster to just order the parts, I would discount the drivers 25%. If you send them in be sure to include a letter in the box with contact info and return address.
