TUNZE 6000 Not Working

Hi,

I purchased 2 Turbelle Stream 6000 and a 7094 Multi Controller in August 2004. They work terrific, but now I have one that is not functioning.

I clean them every 6 months and have never had a problem. I noticed that one of the pumps was not working although none of the alarms have gone off.

I've taken that pump out and soaked it in warm water and vinegar. The impeller had a little build up on it but nothing too bad.

I've cleaned all the parts but the pump still does not work.
When plugged in w/o the multi controller the impeller feels like the motor is trying to move it. It flips half a turn but does not continue to run.

Also, the blue box that is connects to the non funtioning stream seems pretty warm to the touch.

I've swapped transformers and that does not seem to be the problem.

Please let me know if you have any ideas to try. Right now I am keeping it soaking in fresh water and vinegar. If not, please let me know where to return it to be repaired. I have the original sales slip that I can send along.

Thanks,

Joel

Just send it to me:

Tunze USA

Austin TX 78758

Please send the motor and the driver (blue box). The transformer is not necessary and will just add shipping expense.

Hi Roger, I just bought a new Turbelle Stream 6000 and seem to be having the same problem as Joel. It worked fine when I first put it in the tank. Then I turned it off to work on the tank.. and when I turned it back on, it won't spin. I can feel the motor trying to turn the propellor and the driver box gets really hot. When it's hooked up to the multicontroller, I can see the lights flickering really fast.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Jason

Have you removed the drive unit to inspect it? Often this is a simple mechanical problem especially if it is trying to spin. I would also try any tests without the multicontroller attached so we can rule that out.

Roger,

Thanks for the quick turn around on repairing my Stream.
I installed it yesterday and everyhting is working great.

Thanks again,

Joel

Hi Roger,

I have the new impellar assembly which doesn't appear to have the ceramic shaft and white band. I removed the drive unit, everything appears fine. As I mentioned, the unit is brand new.

I tried manually turning the propellor with the unit powered on. It 'jumps' half a turn and then gets stuck again. I've tried plugging and unplugging it, different sockets and made sure the controller was not part of the test. No luck. :(

Are you sure when you were working on the tank the electronics didn't get wet? Something is wrong with the electronics, I have seen lots of instances where they weren't mounted and the sump pump is unplugged and it overflows onto the driver.

I'm sure the electronics didn't get wet at all. Just double checked the driver and it looks perfect. I hadn't fully installed the system because I wanted to be sure everything worked prior to mounting everything. I had the driver quite a bit aways from the tank.

I do notcice that the mounting plate on the driver gets hot very quickly. (In 15 seconds the plate gets warm to the touch... In about one or two minutes it gets pretty hot.)

Anything else I might try?
