Tunze 6000

Roger,

I just got a new Stream 6000 from Rick's Reef in Metairie. I had a question about the new style impeller it comes with. The unit has been pretty much silent the last few days running off the multicontroller, alternating between 30 and 100% output at a 3 second interval. Today though, when it hits 100% it vibrates terribly loudly. So, I took out the impeller and cleaned it, and it seems to have solved the problem for now. I was wondering though if there is supposed to be a ceramic shaft or something that runs down the middle of the impeller...there's a hole running through the shaft that would make you think there should be one, but, there isn't one here. Seeing that the manual wasn't updated with care instructions/disassembly instructions for the new impeller, I am just wondering if something is missing or not.

Thanks,

Kirk

No, our design has always been shaftless, that hole is just for water circulation inside the pump. I would guess some air got inside and caused it to loose it's balance.
