tunze 6045 in a Biocube 29 ROCKS!!

Wow. I put this put in the top right back corner by the return for the filter system, and this thing rocks. It is borderline too much power. You have to aim it just right so the water does not overflow over the side of the tank, and so it does not move too much sand. But this is sweet. All my fish love it, they love to swin in a current this strong. And the corals are growing even faster, (They sway back and forth too!). I had a single small torch coral in my tank that was introduce the same time as the pump, and in 4 days it split into 2 large heads. I did not know coral can grow that fast. My Hammer coral also doubled in size and I have never seen my chili coral so happy. He eats every night now.

I highly recommend this as a mod. IT IS A LOT OF FLOW. You wil have 50X turnover. But it is great, I have no cyanoo bacteria, and way less algae growth (I only need to clean the glass every 4 days now). And because tunze runs with such low wattage. Heat is no loger a isue in my tank. I leave all the lids closed and my heater is what controls my temp, not my pumps.Way better than fudging around with a pathetic lclosed loop that Never works right anyway, and always has to be primed.

Give it a go.

That's a heck of a lot of flow! I was toying with the idea of 2 Tunze 6025's in my 20H but after some recommendations from the guys in the SPS forum, I think 1 might be sufficient. Are you positioning the powerhead towards the top of the back wall?

the powerhead is mounted on the glass at top back right of tannk. I aimed its flow at mid height of the glass in the front left corner. It is a TON of flow. But every critter in the tank is benefiting from it. This is the healthiest I have ever seen my coral. The only critters that hated it wer my shrimp. But once they got used to the flow and learned to "ride it" around the tank. They don't seem to mind anymore either.

I highly recommend just going with one 6045. Then you have less pumps in your tank ruining the aesthetics

This is just my 2 cents, but I had a 6025 in my BC29 and I took it out. It was way too much flow for me and my frogspawn was not opening up with the extra flow. I tried every location and angle I could think of, and it was still too much. I'm sticking with the MJ1200 and hydorflo.

wow in a 29g that isn't even a 20x turnover rate with a 6025 and a maxijet with the hydor will give you about 8x turnover not near enough flow in my experience, I have 800+ gph in a bare bottom 15g and still have dead spots, which is why I will be adding a 6045 on Friday

yeah man, you just have too give the corals (such as frogspawn time to adjust) mine was a little apprehensive for a few days and now it comes out again

yeah, i have a 6045 and a maxijet 1200 and my mag 7 at about 400 gph, so close to 51x turnover in my 37g. my softies and lps are amazing to look at nos with their sway

I put the 6045 in my 15g today and for me is still not enough flow for a full blown BB SPS reef so am going to add a 6025 also when our lfs www.saltycritter.com a sponsor on here gets them in next week. I had 800+ gph before taking out the powerheads and adding the 6045 so only saw an increase of 400 gph and am at 80x turnover, the addition of the 6025 will bring me to well over 123x turnover and hopefully the totally radical flow sps thrive on
