Roger: I have a 6055 with single controller and a 6045. First let me say I am thrilled that I got these two, I am very pleased with the products. I have a small concern with the 6045 in that the cage front won't close onto the back. I have tried to clean the "edges" to make sure there are no obstructions, but still can't get it to fit right. My 6055 doesn't have this issue and I bought them at the same time.

Any suggestions, or can I order a new cage and reinstall the drive? I have had these about three months.

Thanks in advance for your help!

David

David,

Just for the sake of argument could you try the cage off of your 6055? If this fits correctly we will know it is just the front cover and I can send a new one.

Hi Roger: just got home and tried to swap the cages, no luck. I took a new toothbrush and cleaned everywhere that might cause an obstruction...no luck. Is ther anything else I should try? David

Joe: Mine is not fitting at the top at all, and for some reason my 6055 won't fit on the 6045, so I assume it must be something with the back part of the cage. This is such a minor issue, I think that the two of these are great PHs, thinking about getting another 6055 as I just upgraded to a 125.

Oh, well thats no good. PM Roger, hes the man as far as warranties go. He replaced one of my 6045s already with no questions asked. The only downside was the redslime that appeared since I had to go a week and a half without the powerhead lol.

Joe, in that case I am pretty sure a new cage alone will fix it, PM me your info and I will send one.

Almondsaz- can you see if it is something in particular causing this? Is the cord in the way?

If you look at the top where the cord comes out of the pump, under the ledge where the cover clamps in, you will see two bars, I suspect the cord gap is not wide enough to clear these bars, please check, you should be able to see if this lines up correctly. If not, you can just sand or file it a little wider and it should fit.

Roger: the chord does not create a problem for the affixing of the cage. The cage itself does not fit into the back portion of the cage. It is not obstructed by chord in anyway. David

Yes, the part I am referring to is a pair of reinforcing ribs roughly behind the cord in the main pump housing. They are back in the pump and may be interfering with the cover closing because they are wider than the cord notch, the cord notch should span these ribs, the ribs may be to wide.
