Hi Roger, I see that you are active here and hopefully I can get some assistance from you. This is my third Tunze and I feel that these are one of the best pumps out in the market right now. I just received my latest one, a 6095 with (201601 printed on the back of the controller) this morning and upon receiving it in the morning, I quickly set it up in my tank and ran it with pulse off. After about 40 mins, I noticed the motor stopped. I thought I smelled something funny (like burned plastic) so I unplugged everything and called Marine depot. They told me that they cannot send me a new one even thought I had just received it in the morning and that they will open a ticket with you.
I wanted to get you as much info as possible, so without risking my reef, I again setup the pump in a bucket of water. Again pump runs fine for about 40 mins and it stops. Once it stops, it would start again within 20 seconds and will run for about 2 minutes and would stop. At this point, I tried using the pulse to see if it would make a difference and it's the same behavior. If I unplug the power and leave it for a few minutess, I can get it to run longer, but once it reaches the stopping phase, it would cycle on and off as before. The pulsing lights work, so there is power, but the pump just won't turn. I checked to see if the propeller was stuck, but it was not. I didn't think so because it's able to stop and start itself.
At this point, I would like to get an exchange because the pump was brand new and it had these issues. I left you a voicemail on the Tunze USA contact Telephone: (512)-833-7546 and my number was provided. Marine Depot has also promised to contact you on my behalf, but they did not copy me on the email to you as they had mention so I wanted to make sure you received that.
