Tunze 6100

Ok guys, I finally broke down and bought a TUNZE 6100 for my 120gal. I was using a SWCD and I "thought" it was doing an ok job. Well, let me tell ya, the difference is like from night and day. WOW. I mean seriously people, this thing is simply amazing! The power behind it, the beautiful currents I get, I have a piece of the ocean, current and all! I can not say enough. The corals have opened up so much more, it just amazes me. My mushrooms are having some trouble adjusting, but already, just after 24 hours, they are relaxing. I am going to have my daughter use her camera and make a small video and post a link on here, as soon as I can get her here long enough to do so. This thing has cleared nearly all the debris from the sand, and it has also gotten the junk that builds up on the side of the glass from a deep sand bed! I believe that this tunze is going to not only keep healther corals by the ocean simulation, but it is also going to help keep my aquarium cleaner and clearer by keeping any debris stured up so that the filter can get it. Can you tell I can't say enough great things? LOL. I will post as soon as I get a video of this.

LOL, Thanks so much Ron, helping to order it and helping me online while I installed it, LOL. I recomend this to everyone!

First time in the 8 months that this 120 has been up that I did not have to use my magnet cleaner! Glass is spotless!

yes, it came with the controller and I also got the magnet with it, which I am so glad I did because there is not way I could have figured out how to put together the hanger that comes with it.

I know what you mean about the hanger assembly. Do you have a live sand or bare bottom on your tank. I purchased one a while back w/o the controller and it was just too much for my 72 gal. How do you like the controller. Does it do more than just reduce flow?

I like the controller a lot. It not only lets you control the flow, you can control it in two different flows, making it cause the effect you see in the ocean, also, it has a feedtimer which allows you about 4 minutes to feed your fish before it kicks back on. That comes in handy for the fish to eat in peace as well as, if you need to stop the flow for a few minutes for maintenence or moving items without having the flow stiring up debris.

I've wanted one for a while now, but i'm not sure if it would be overkill on my 75 gallon. 48" long? How many watts is it? I bet you paid a pretty penny...lol.

75 Gallon is perfect for a 6000 or 6100 depends on livestock IMO. BTW you do know you can get a photo optic cell attachment that will cut the flow back when the lights go off too. I have this on both my 6100 and wave box. Fish seem to like the quiet seas at night but it's not a necessity by any means, just another neat option.

Thanks Ron! Once you get me hooked on SPS (since i've had !!!2!!! DOA and I can't contact the shippers...!!!!!!) I will get a Tunze 6100. That photo optic cell attachment (yes, I had to scroll back up...;)) sounds prefect, because I have some small, slow fish (mandarin goby, YWG, and 2 clowns). My mandarin is almost completely nocturnal though, which saddens me...

I need either a new heater, or a second one. Today when I went to school, the temperature was 78*F, just where I like it. When I get home, it's 87*F!!!!! Well, what do I expect from a Whisper heater? Any recommended brands?
