I have a Tunze 6105 that is not turning on. 24V power supply indicator (red light) is not turning on. I tried power cord from another tunze I have and the light it still won't turn on. Can the power supply unit, model 9935, be bad? If so, are they repairable?

The power supply is not repairable but is replaceable. Warranty is two years from date of purchase with a receipt.

In general these power supplies last about 3 years, they are a consumable that needs to be replaced now and again. As Shawn mentioned the warranty is 2 years, provided it did not get wet, it would be replaced under warranty if you send it in.

thanks for the info, I am in the process of ordering a new one. Are there any local (US) distributors for these?

In general all spare parts are sold direct, not many dealers keep them on hand. Tunze.com is the best bet. If this is urgent, you can use a 50W laptop power supply with 2.5 by 5.5 mm tip and it should be tip positive. I would be cautious to select one with a minimum of openings and absolutely no fans. Cheaper ones tend to have vent slots and fans as they are less efficient and get very hot, this type won't last long near humid salt air.

Maybe not cheap but reasonable, a 6105 should get a new drive unit and power supply about every 3 years and this would total about $80 to keep the pump running optimally, that price is about on par with many large impellers alone. I would consider it a reasonable upkeep and maintenance cost. But, yes, all these type of electronic power supplies do have a finite life, though I have seen that 6300.240 seems to last the longest and that is likely because it is overkill, it is a 90W power supply and runs quite cool, but they also are very expensive.
