TUNZE 6105s v MP40s

7096 is 150-170$ save that put it towards the apex. If you can't afford it now then get 1 6105 and the apex. A controller is a must have to help prevent failures.

I'm sure you can have a great tank without a controller but when you fill your tank with thousands of dollars of livestock it makes no sense to not have a controller. You can use it as a temp controller if your heater doesn't shut off or if your tank gets too hot to shut your lights down. I personally would not start a tank without a controller. Fishman, have you read about the WP40's? I ordered 2, they seem to be a bargain.

I wouldn't know, I only have a couple hundred dollars in my tank between the lights, reactors, ozone, peristaltic pump, CaRx, orp and ph controller, Tunze's and sps corals. A controller is a nice toy, but it can fail too and you can do more than enough with the Tunze controllers.

I have watched the wp40 thread. I have learned you get what you pay for in this hobby, and feel tunzes are worth the extra money, since they have amazing Customer service and have been around 40 years. Does anyone here have the 6105s + 7096?

I haven't done the 7096 yet but I would before I went with the 7095. Of my old Tinze's ever fail I will replace with the 6105 and 7096 but so far there seems to be no sign of them even slowing down.

I would, it is really hard to beat that combination but for the 120 a pair of 6095's would also work, but I would go with the stronger pumps.

How do you program the feed modes, night modes, and other modes with the multicontroller and 6105s? Can you control them without laptop?

The feed timer is on the panel but all programming functions are done by computer. If you want hands on control then the 7095 is what you use.

My current setup is 2x6105s with a 7096 controller.

You need a PC, laptop or desktop with USB, to program the 7096. Once programmed, it is independent of any PC and has a feed button that has a preprogrammed (by you) off period.

I have used the 7096, 7095 and Apex controller to control Tunzes. All work well, but I like the 7096 or 7095. The 7095 is the older version that you can adjust using the controller itself. I have found Tunze pumps to be all but bulletproof, their controllers included. I go with their controller over the Apex right now because their controller is powered off the pumps and therefore has no issues with battery backup. With the Apex, you'd have to power the Apex base as well or it would kill the pumps if it lost power.
