Tunze 6200 holder wearing out?!?!

Hello everyone.

I've had my Tunze 6200's for about a year now with Tunze magnet holders and I have noticed something. The pumps are wearing off the slot where the swivel arm attaches to the pump housing. I used to hang the pumps from the the swivel arm and I about 6 months ago one of them started falling off. I switches to resting them the arm and while they haven't fallen off, the now bob up and down everytime the pump is engaged.

The questions are;

has anyone else seen this?

Is there a better way to mount these pumps in an acrylic tank?

Is this damage something that would be covered under warranty?

Is there a way to replace the housing without replacing all of the guts?

I figure that I should stock up on spare housings because it looks like once a year or so they'll have to be replaced if I don't find a better way to mount them.

Thanks for reading...

Hi Roger.

Yes, I have. I got a few replacement swivel arms from you when the Tunze first fell off. installing the new swivel arms made it better for a while but I looked at both pumps yesterday and the casing is definitely wearing out.

Rick, I sent a PM with some things to check/try. Let me know what you find. I am willing to work with you to get this resolved.

I think I had the same issue a while back but Roger definitely took care of me. Basically the holder that slides into the top of the pump's "groove" came loose. I think its just from excessive vibration and wear. I absolutely love Streams and will probably not be without one anytime soon - but I do wish it were addressed and somehow the connection would be more secure. The first time it came out I lost several corals because a 6200 on the loose in a 340G tank is creates a lot of havoc! I ended up using transparent fishing line just in case.

Oh and Roger was great. I'm pretty sure I had a couple threads on it - but initially he sent me a few slide-in pieces. They didn't really fit all that well so I just sent the whole pump back to him and he had it returned to me with a tongue that fit securely within a week's turnaround.

I had a 6200 drop in a 125, it wasn't pretty. Sand everywhere. I can't wait to see if these new plan works. My backup plan is to just glue the piece on place so that it will never come off.

I love my Tunzes, I'm going to order a wavebox to complement my two 6200's in a couple of weeks. The flow in my tank is sick already but I want the wavebox to keep detritus in suspension for my filter sock.

Hi Guys,

I have an update. I finally installed the new clips and they are MUCH better than the old ones. We'll see how they do over time but for now two thumbs :thumbsup::thumbsup: way up!

Thanks Roger!
