Tunze 9001 Skimmer failure

My Tunze 9001 purchased in August 2015 is no longer working. I'm unsure where the manual is to confirm the warranty if any but I need to find out how to get a replacement motor.

I clean it about once a month. And about a month ago realized it wasn't working. The impeller turned freely by hand but I broke it down and cleaned it anyway. Seemed to work after I reinstalled but not a lot of bubbles. As of Saturday the pump no longer turns. Even after cleaning.

Help?

The warranty is 2 years, you would just need to send the pump in and if it cannot be repaired we would replace it. I have only encountered 1 dead 9001 pump in the nearly 2 years they have been available. It would be very unusual. When you clean it, are you removing the drive unit from the motor and soaking the motor and drive unit in vinegar/water for a few hours until their are no visible deposits? It is a 2.5W motor, it does not have a lot of torque so a bit of sand or lime scale will stop it. Test the motor dry briefly to be sure that the motor is actually not running and it is not just that the air intake is detached from the pump.

Hi Thanks for the response. I'm breaking the motor down...essentially everything I can remove without breaking it. Then soaking it in Vinegar and water. But I should mention my system is fairly clean. I never see any build ups on the pump.

A new development. I removed the pump again to clean it and it started working again. But checked again this afternoon and it stopped.

Where might I find a replacement pump?

You can order them on Tunze.com, but I don't see a need to do so, if you sent it in, within a day of getting it I would have it done and on the way back and you should be able to go a couple weeks without a skimmer by just not adding any new livestock and doing a single water change a week in and being careful to not overfeed. If it started running again, the issue has to be the impeller or something in the pump, it would be very unlikely to be the motor. Try this, if you try it dry does the impeller always start, if so that points to the impeller.

Well I have an outbreak of hair algae and hoped with adding a GFO reactor and heavy skimming I can export some excess nutrients. Where do I send it?
