Tunze 9002 enough for a 25 gallon SPS tank?

I am considering getting this little skimmer for my new tank.

You guys think it will be enough? or should I get the Reef Octopus BH-1000?

In all honesty, I had that skimmer for my bio cube and I thought it was a waist of money. I don't know how people claimed it ever skimmed anything. I had it going for a month, adjusting where the bubbles popped, never got anything in the collection cup.

I just searched it and I saw some people were really pulling out a lot of stuff, maybe I was just doing something wrong.

ive had the skimmer since March and its skimmed very well for me.

works well in my NC 24, and i got a bunch of sps in there

it will probably be okay for 25g and not a DROP more. (if you have a sump or ANY kind of upgrade do better than then 9002). I'd go easy on the fish load as well.

Old pic. It does pull out some junk. There are much better skimmers out there but for the size and price I think its pretty good. After a day or so I get about a half inch of light coffee color skimmate in the cup. Edit: Just poured some coffee and realized how dark coffee really is! Lets go with, its the color of iced tea:)

I used it on my 20g Long with great sucess for a year and half. I had a 20G with a 15G sump fully stocked with sps, light on fish usually 3 fish at the most. It skimmed great, unreal how much it gets out of the tank.

So it depends on what you have in the tank and how much you plan on feeding, you probably would have to be alittle more careful about feeding, and not dumping a ton of frozen foods in every day.

I have two, and they work great! I had one on a 40g, now it's on a 55g SPS dominant tank (low bio-load), and another on a 20g tank. The older ones don't work as well as the newer ones though (I have both.) I've been using the 9002 since they came out. I think my colors are very nice, but you can judge for yourself. (Excuse my photography skills please!) For the size and cost, I don't think you'll find many other skimmers in this category. Plus, you can't beat Tunze easily on customer service. (I did have one pump fail on me right before the warranty was up - Tunze sent me a new one immediately and spare parts just in case).

I am not going to be running a sump on this 25 gallon cubed, and I will also be running a Vortech MP20.

If i mounted it within the displaytank, do you think the unsteady waterlevel would cause it to not work correctly?

Aquamaxx has a HOB they just came out with a MD has 20% off this month so the price would be around the same. I think the AM may be a better performer IMO. I've heard the Tunze can be loud.

yes, they need a steady water level or they wont skim well at all.

Sorry, I didn't realize you weren't going to use it in a sump. They're finicky about water levels. Unless you have an ATO on your display to keep the water level fairly constant, I wouldn't try it.

The Aquamaxxx looks like the best option for noise level and aesthetics.
Does anyone know how well it performs?
