Tunze 9002 No Longer Working

Hello...

I've got a Tunze 9002 that has decided to quit working. I've gone through and done the cleaning and the troubleshooting noted in the manual, but still no luck. It seems that the pump is no longer working. When plugged in, there is no response from the pump.

This unit was purchased in May/June 2008.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. If I need to send it back, should I send the entire unit or just the pump?

I am out of this pump until late this week, send it in and as soon as I get more I will replace it.

Thanks. I will send it in the next day or so. Funny enough, I pulled it out again, cleaned it and it started working. Then I put it back in the tank, and it stopped again.

I had something similar happen with my 9002 every once in a while after I broke it in for 6 months. It would just stop then turn on 20 minutes later all by itself. I would also take out and clean, would start working, then stop, then start again. The unit skims great but the pump seems tempermental. Had to order a new one as I have have had this skimmer for a couple years now.

The pump has a safety switch that cuts it off if it is overheating, it can overheat because of an internal short, a bad impeller or debris in the pump.
