tunze 9002 problem

I bought the skimmer new and have had it for 11 days. By day 3 it was operating perfectly. The skimmage was a dark tea color. A day or two after that it started to overflow. I have tried it with the screw all the way in and out. The skimmer produces bubbles regardless if the screw it tighten all the way or opened. It is also now producing a lot of microbubbles which was not observed around day 3 when the skimmer was producing a dark tea color skimmage.

Please advise,
Shawn Nguyen

I have the same issue w/ my skimmer.. I posted in the sponsor forums as well. I also wrote on the equipment forum and wrote to WWM... let's hope our efforts will yield results!

The skimmer should be positioned so the marked line is about 1/2" above the actual water line, this is because the US pump is slightly stronger than the European equivalent. The air screw should be open 2-3 turns. The skimmer will produce bubbles regardless of the air flow adjustment however they should decrease to just a few when the screws is fully closed and increase as the screw is opened. The skimmer should be installed in a set up where the water level will not deviate more than 1/2" up or down, the less the better. Microbubbles tend to result from conditions in the aquarium; high KH, algae growth, use of vitamins, amino acids, fatty foods, dechlorinator, stress coat, new filter cartridges which may be laden with phenols. Microbubbles can also result from incorrect assembly such that the venturi nozzle is partially detached or not properly inserted through the internal baffle with the green jet pipe.

When i have time this week, i'll take the skimmer apart to make sure everything is securely in place. Thanks for the help Roger, I will keep you updated on the skimmer
