Where can I go about getting a replacement elbow.. or 2.

The one on this skimmer is constantly clogged, it only lasts maybe 3-4 days before the skim noticeably slows down.

Or even better would be if anyone has a mod to completely bypass this.. I am thinking about drilling a hole in the side of the tunze tomorrow to feed the hose straight through into the venturi to avoid the stupid elbow altogether.

I dont know much about the skimmer in practice to give you any suggestions but I would wait till Roger is on Monday before drilling any holes. Just about any part for any product can be purchased at Tunze.com. You just the need the part number which can be found int he manual

Thanks for the response.

The biggest problem this skimmer has always had for basically everyone that uses it is the stupid plastic elbow that connects the air tube to the venturi. The elbow always gets clogged with salt build up since it narrows down and bends. I have threaded an airline tube in its place in the past but the way the tube leaves the housing it bends and chokes. By drilling a small hole straight in the side I could feed a tube straight in and get rid of the elbow bend altogether.. worst case scenario it doesnt work and I just plug the hole up =).

Working with the newly drilled hole.. will be interested to see if the air line tube clogs with salt creep.

The airline will only clog so readily if the skimmer is either completely enclosed so it is taking in moist salty air or the skimmer is submerged too deep at least periodically so salt water is being pulled in through the elbow. In general it should go at least 6 months between cleanings. We do have them, they are not a standard part as in most of the world these elbows are readily available, unfortunately US suppliers only sell a barbed version. They are $2 each and we can mail 2 of them for $1 in postage.
