purchased a new nano skimmer. when i opened the box the top for the skimmer was off. it seems like the tubing is too long and when i close the cap the tubing tends to pinch and affects the airflow. i fiddled and adjusted it but after a few min. of operating the tube tends to pinch again. any suggestions? dont want to start trimming tubing or anything.

I'm not sure if the design has changed since my version, but the hole for the tubing is pretty snug between the top and bottom chamber. If I open the top of mine the same thing happens. Try going in from the bottom where the pump is and pulling the tubing until the top stays shut. There is more room in the bottom for excess.

well, the thing i like about my tunze skimmers is that they have always been just plug em in and away they go.
for my 9002 i had to pull it all apart and adjust the tube connections. i did cut about 3/4" off the tubing and that allowed for adjustment below the top chamber. so far so good. now for it to breakin and see how it works

The fix for this is to pull the tube down from the lower chamber, unfortunately, what you describe is not uncommon, this skimmer often disassembles in shipping to some extent. Cutting the tube would result in any issues, in fact it will give less restriction, the only problem is you will have a harder time reinstalling the pump after cleaning, the tube should hang down from the skimmer body about 1" when the pump is removed.
