what performance advantage does the dc version have over the stock ac pump?

On the AC pumps for the US, they spin at 3600 rpm and you can only adjust the air, when you close the air you increase the water flow.

The DC pump has more torque so a slightly larger needle wheel is used, the speed is variable from about 2400 rpm to 4200 rpm and the air water ratio stays proportional as you adjust speed.
