Just wondering if I can still get the foamer is what I think it's called. Or let's just say the complete motor assembly. Inside there is a plastic piece that rotates and on it there is a small piece that looks like it broke off. If so would this affect the efficiency of the skimmer?

Can I get a photo? Sounds like all you may need is an impeller, part 9004.047, the motor is part 9004.015 and a complete pump is 9004.040, all can be ordered on Tunze.com or from Xenia in Canada.

Thanks. It was the impeller I was referring too that seems to have a broken fin. The part numbers you gave are just for basic 9004 skimmer correct?

How much more efficient are the DC ones. In particular the 9012.

Correct, I think you just need 9004.047 (impeller).

The DC pumps are nice from the aspect of adjustment, especially since the air and water ratio stays constant, but you will find the DC pumps have to be run at less than half power in general. I use the DC 9012 at home and I like it quite a bit, I can turn up the pump to about 50% and skim very wet and vodka/vinegar dose to quickly export nutrients or just run it normally at about 30% power and skim a normal tea colored skimmate. I have found this ability lets me run my tests and between carbon dosing and GFO tweak my nutrient levels to just barely detectable which is where I want them and if I go to low, the GFO comes out and the carbon dosing scales back. Now I am just learning to not over do it, I have dropped things fast enough to get some corals to slightly pastel the colors but it has worked wonders for algae control and I feed very heavily as I have a few colonies of tubastrea and dendrophyllia as well as a few gorgonians and sponges so getting this balance is a necessity.
