Tunze 9006 won't produce foam

I just got a Tunze 9006 skimmer about a week ago and I have noticed that sometimes it won't produce foam. I don't mean it won't create a lot of foam, but it won't even produce any foam. Then if I turn it off, move the skimmer slightly, and plug it back in it will produce foam.

I've read the manual a few times and I haven't found anything that addresses this so I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if there is something wrong with the hydrofoamer.

There are a few possible causes. I would first remove the pump and check that the airline is not kinked or pinched behind the pump and the air line is firmly connected to the venturi nozzle.

I would make sure that it is not submerged past the marked water line and if it is used with the 9005.400 extension set that water exits the pipe and the blue foam sponge is not above the top of the pipe.

There is a remote chance that the pump is spinning backwards but this would only be possible if the pump was made before February 2011 which is unlikely unless this was bought from a small local shop who had it in stock for a while. We have sold out of 9006 a few times over this year as have most of our larger dealers so I would think this possibility is remote. This could be tested by removing the pump and repeatedly plugging it in and unplugging it. If it occasionally produces sharply reduced flow, this is due to a backwards spin.

It is also possible the 3130.130 impeller housing was broken in transport. If you PM me your email address, I can email some pictures that will help identify this, there is a glue joint that can break and it will look normal to the untrained eye.

Hi Roger is there any chance you could post pic's on here as i'm having the same problem with my 9006 I have run it for a couple of months followed all the guidlines fron Tunze and still no results.
