Tunze 9010 and 9015 Comline skimmers...

Im almost ready to buy one of these skimmers. Both would work for my tank. However, I am curious about the specs of both. They both process the same amount of air and water so why is the 9015 rate for a larger overall tank volume?? It seems that the only difference is the larger collection cup. Does this increase the amount volume of skimming area hence the bigger rating?

Thanks in advance.

It allows you to add more air, the quoted flow and air volume are max, on a 9010 you couldn't have the max air flow. In general I think the 9010 is better, the 9015 will give you a dryer more concentrated skimmate, some people like that and it does perform more in terms of waste removal because their is more air and the reaction area is greater because of the cup height.

hey albert

Thats good to hear. I did read your thread already. Have any new photos of skimmate production?

Im leaning towards the 9010. It should be plenty for my tank since its a softie tank. I should be ordering it shortly.

i will have to post updated pics when i get home.

i decided to go with the 9015 as they are the same size (only a larger cup/reaction chamber) but the 9015 can handle more, so i figured once i have something taking up the space and spending the money, might as well get the most efficient/powerful one.

good point :) Im selling my Ca reactor which will give me the money to buy a skimmer. Then I can sell my MR-2. So I could possibly have enough dough to buy the 9015. I will have to take a look again.
