My Tunze 9010 produce very little foam hence it's been at least a month since I seen any dark water. I've taken it apart twice and clean it. It work for about a year then decide to not produce much foam.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Jeff,

So it is producing bubbles just not a foam head at the top of the cup? I take it that the skimmer is running in the 24g tank that you have listed. Depending on the livestock load there maybe nothing in the tank to skim out and it's just idling. The only suggestion I can think of is if you really want to see a foam head is to shut the skimmer off for a couple of days and then turn the skimmer on again and then it's should produce a foam head. atleast till it catches up again.

I am assuming you have taken the pump out and cleaned it regularly. Another thing I do on all my skimmers is let the air intake suck up a couple cups of RO/DI to clean the venturi valve.

You may want to take off the venturi valve and make sure nothing has built on it over time....sometimes it can get kind of crusty.

I havee a 9005 and I found if I ran the water level at the bottom of the letters on the Tunze label on the front panel....slightly over the water level mark.....my skimmer performed better.

How long have you had the skimmer? Did it used to perform OK and has recently stopped?

I finally got the Tunze 9010 to work now though it's rather noisy. It used to be quieter. There were two problems, one there was a piece of shell that got stuck in the exhaust pipe of the pump itself which you can see. That was the only area I overlook when I took the skimmer apart 3 times. Second, the pump itself make this clanky noise which cut down the efficiency of the pump lby like 90%. I have to tap it several time before the pump work again. This issue occur again even when I put the skimmer back together. Again, I had to tap it several time for the pump to work efficiently.

I guess now I'm down to the pump itself working but very noisy which I might have to send in for service. I purchased this pump new less than two years ago.

Any idea how much it would to repair this? I don't know the warranty on this unit but I have this unit for less than two years.

It has a 2 year warranty, if it is less than 2 years old and not caused by neglect it will be free, but the part you need is only about $25.
