Tunze 9015 skim abilities

Been using the 9015 for about 9 months now and over the weekend, I just cleaned the skimmer ..

Before the cleaning, I used to get about 100ml collection per week very dark and thick skimmate..

Now, barely 2 days .. the skimmer is like 500ml and almost clear (lighter skimmate)

I was always under the impression that 9015 is a dry skimmer and you'll be hardpressed to run it wetter ??

The air knob is at the approximate same position as last time (about 7 half turns out)

Not complaining .. actually quite happy .. but not sure what's going on ..:lol:

maybe I should clean it more often from now onwards :bum: :bum:

If you added anything with a colloid, oil, or amino acids it could cause this as it changes the surface tension of the water.

Hi ..just noticed the outlet pipe .. there's no water flowing out !! :eek1: :eek1:

Does it mean the outlet pipe if inserted deeper (or blocked) allows for a wetter skim ?? (since the water column now rises higher?)

This would allow water to back up into the cup but this is probably not ideal for good skimmer performance, i would correct the installation so water exits the pipe.
