Roger:
I have a 9020 skimmer than I have been using for some time now, and was having a lot a difficulty with one of the two skimmers from the start. One side is just not pumping as strongly as the other. I can tell because no skimmate reached the top of that skimmer, and the water does not flow out from the standpipe nearly as strong as the other side. I read all the threads I could find here, and took the skimmer apart and reassembled it back too many times that I have lost count. Finally I noticed that on the impeller of the weaker pump, one of the two small dark grey "brakes" is missing. By "brakes" I mean the approximately 5mm x 5mm ridged squares that I think force the impeller to spin one way and not the other. (I hope I am clear; I do not know the technical name of this part).
Do you think this missing brake would cause that pump to underperform? If so, how can I get a replacement part? If not, what else can I do? I have checked the verturi (it is fit snug for sure) and the bottom cover is seated properly, and the standpipes are not forced in too far, etc. etc. I sincerely appreciate your help. I have spent a small fortune for this skimmer (plus a lot of shipping to get it to Hawaii), and I just want it stop having to fiddle with it anymore and have it simply work.
Aloha,
Stephen
