Tunze 9410 noise?

I have been running a Tunze 9410 for at least 6 months. I am very happy with the way it skims but the noise is by far the loudest thing on my tank. The pump is not too bad but the water noise coming from the standpipe, I think, is really loud.

Has anyone else had this experience? Any ways to cut the noise down?

Thanks.

Have you tried changing the height of the filter bag and moving it to different positions to catch more of the outflow water and route it through the bag? Do you have a picture of it installed?

I actually took the filter bag off because it wa just floating and not catching any debris. One of the reasons I purchased this skimmer was because it works in deeper water and my skimmer chamber is at 10-11 inches. It skims great at that depth but the filter bag doesn't work.

I don't have a pic but I can get one when I get home if it would help. The water level is just below the hole on the side that has water streaming out...not sure what it's called. I probably have room to raise it a couple of inches if you think that would help?

I would add the filter bag back, this is what will make the biggest difference. If you push it down into the water it should not float, it primarily floats from air caught in the mesh, also be sure the ring is seated in the plastic tray. I would lower the water level or raise the skimmer as well. My guess is that the air is more closed than it would be at a lower water level and so the water flow is also much higher, this is adding to the noise problem.

You are right. The air is almost completely closed. I wasn't worried about it because it was skimming so well. I will raise it and see if I can decrease the water flow a bit. I will also add the filter bag back on.

Thanks for the help, Roger.
