Tunze 9415

Hi Roger,

I'm working on a new 60 gallon cube set up with SPS and I'll be running biopellets as well. I've been considering the 9410 skimmer but felt it may be undersized. Do you think I should wait for the 9415 to come out or just go with the 9410?

Thanks

I think the 9415 is excessive, if you deduct 60% of the rating as we recommend for SPS there is still a comfortable margin for the 9410. The 9410 would be rated to SPS tanks of 105 and the 9415 to 160.

I found this post in Google. Just for your information, I don't feel that the 9415 is so excessive... looking to the Tunze USA data: http://tunzeusa.com/new-9415-doc-protein-skimmer/

400 gallons for a Fish Only system
320 gallons for a Soft Coral system
240 gallons for a Mixed Reef
160 gallons for a Stony Coral dominant system

You do understand that rvitko IS Tunze USA, right?

Excuse my typos. I'm posting on my Samsung Galaxy SIII using tapatalk 3 HD.

Does the rating go even lower for a SPS and fish loaded system?

My supplier is telling me that tunze no longer makes this skimmer is that true or is he just trying to get me to buy something else?
Do you have any data that says how much TOC percentage this skimmer pulls

No, the rating does not go any lower than that. 160 gallons is an appropriate rating for an SPS system with fish.

This skimmer is very popular and is still in production and available. I haven't seen any data regarding TOC removal percentages, and I'm not sure if any such standard exists.
