Tunze Auto Top-off...

I use the Tunze auto top-off and in most all respects have found it to be absolutely fantastic.

The only concern I have is how loud that little pump is when running. My wife and I joke that it sounds like a plane coming in for a landing. We have the pump sitting on the bottom of a 10g glass aquarium that serves as our freshwater reservoir. Is it common that these pumps are so loud and is there something that you would recommend to cut down on the noise.

I was thinking of putting little rubber feet on the bottom of the pump and setting the tank on cardboard or something. Any other suggestions, or is this not normal?

Thanks.
Jason

The pumps vary some in noise production, but in general they do make an audible noise. It would help greatly to switch to a plastic container. With our container 5002.25, a hole for the cable and water line are provided and these holes are snug so you can prop up the pump so it is suspended, this eliminates a great deal of noise.

I can actually suspend the pump with my setup as well as the water and cable lines are snug thru the lid of the 10g aquarium/reservoir, I'll give that a try.

Thanks.
