Tunze Automat Calcium Reactor Users

Hi:

Is anyone out there using the Automat Calcium Reactor?

I believe that this unit might be a really good in-sump solution for a new system of mine, but I rarely hear about it?

I have a hunch that, being a Tunze product, it's pretty darned good, but doesn't get the "press" that some of the other brands out there do. Perhaps it's another a "dark horse", like the DOC skimmers.

I'd love to hear comments, see pictures, etc. from anyone who has used this unit (even you, Roger!), particularly in an in-sump setup.

Thanks!

Scott

I have been using one since they came out and I am very pleased with it. My only complaint is the drip setting needs weekly adjustment but my experience with other reactors is this is fairly normal. I also would not suggest it for a high load tank over 180 gallons. I use mine on a 120 which mainly houses SPS and I also use the calcium dispenser to dose kalk. I use it with the Tunze CO2 Controller set at a pH of 8.15.

Thanks, Roger!

If I want to fully automate my CO2 for the Automat, do I get the Controller Set 7074? Will there be anything else I need to purchase? Which Tunze CO2 regulator would you advise using with this system? Or, will any regulator with a solenoid work with the controller?

Final question- In the Automat manual, there is an item called a "non-return" valve (7070.10) that is needed to use with a CO2 regulator. Do you stock this part?

Thanks!

Scott

The non return valve is just a check vallve and comes with the 7074 as does the solenoid. The regulator from Tunze is a good one but any regulator without a solenoid (you get a 9v inline one with the controller) would work.
