Tunze battery back up for streams?

The 6105.500 is our solution for two reasons.

You can buy a battery anywhere so there is no point to having it shipped halfway around the world and paying a hefty fee for shipping.

This DIY solution offers great versatility, you can use a solar panel to charge the battery, you can change the battery if it dies, you can even use disposable lantern batteries.

It is very simple to use, anyone with even a basic grasp of DC power and wiring can hook one up. You just need to make a connector for the battery you choose based on the type of terminals and you need a charger for the battery.

In general for 6055 the pump uses 3/4amp at 12V, 6105 uses about 1 amp, 6205 about 1.5 and 6305 about 2. Divide the amp hour rating of the battery by the amps and that is how long the pump will keep running. The safest option is a gel cell type battery like is used in a childs Power Wheels toy or to back up your household alarm and the focus should be on about 6 hours of run time. After 24hours for sure there is no point, power failures don't typically happen on a perfect 75 degree day, bottom line after 24hours most everything will likely be dead from temp changes so no point in overkill.

Master DOC 9440

Master DOC 9440

on a 210g tank, plus another 40g in sump. 250g total.
9440 OK?

oops need new thread sorry

If you are not in a hurry, wait, in just a few months, the larger Master DOC's will see a redesign and price decrease, no later than September these should be available and the 9440 price drop will be substantial. We have a new pump that is much stronger so 1 will replace 2 and the design is being changed a little as well. Basically this change results in a price decrease of 20%. You really only need a 9420 and if you can't wait, the 9420 and 9440 are the same, just add a second pump, the hole for attaching the pump is already there, it is just plugged and the cost of doing it this way is also the same, so you can start with a 9420 and upgrade if you feel the need.
