I am using one and I am happy with it, you might try running a search in this forum. The only negative comments I have heard is the need to readjust the drip rate periodically but that goes for every calcium reactor that I have ever used.
I like to keep equipment as simple as possible. I understand that the CO2 bottle and gauges are needed. Do I have to have the pH/CO2 controller set too? Or can these be omitted?
It can be omitted but it is much safer to use a controller. I would not omit it on my set ups as it helps stabilize the pH and gives better control over the reactor.
